CCTV Security Camera System
CCTV security camera system is one of the many wonders of modern technology. It has gained immense popularity as an effective security measure for both residential and commercial environments, thanks to the plethora of benefits it offers!
One of the biggest and most obvious benefit in installing CCTV security cameras is its effectiveness in deterring crimes. In various cities, security cameras have helped in reducing crime rate in monitored areas. Not only that, it also enables you to monitor activities of people visiting your premise - a great way to detect suspicious people! Having CCTV security cameras installed also comes in handy when dealing with a legal scenario. CCTV record and document everything it sees systematically, therefore, it can provide you with an accurate account of what may have really transpired in the area.
Choosing the correct type of CCTV camera system for a fair price can certainly be confusing.
So where do you start?
When it comes to choosing the best CCTV security camera system for your monitoring needs, there are a number of considerations you can make. Below are a few (of many) factors to consider:
Cost: CCTV camera system is very much a case of “getting what you pay for” and unfortunately too many people make their decision based on price alone – not a good decision! A low-cost CCTV camera system will also be of low quality and usually not up the task required. This becomes a complete waste of money. Likewise, you can also easily spend much more money than needed at the other end.
The trick is to be clear on what your problems or issues are, the approximate loss in theft and your expectations of the CCTV camera system. If the system performs to these expectations then it’s worth spending on and often actually saves you money. A competent Recon consultant can work through this with you.
System type (analog or digital) :A simple analog CCTV is a security camera that records the video feed on a Digital Video Recorder (DVR), while a digital IP camera feeds the video stream to an IP address and can then be recorded over a Network Video Recorder (NVR). This is the basic difference between an analog and digital camera.
IP or Internet Protocol camera systems are offer higher image quality, advanced recording features and the capability of connecting a larger number of cameras to the system in comparison with analog camera systems. Cabling is not always required, which means it is easier to install and can be moved to various locations. Because IP cameras send video feed to an IP address, the video can be viewed anywhere where there is internet. You can even view this on any mobile device such as your laptop or smart phone.
Brand: There are too many brands to list but all good systems are reasonably close in terms of quality & price. The main thing is to ensure the brand is supplied and supported locally by a reputable supplier who offers full technical back up & warranty support. New Zealand is awash with counterfeit product & some installers buy off the internet or parallel import. If the company quoting your CCTV imports system into New Zealand themselves – be wary as you will have very little other options if there are problems / warranty issues or they sell up / close down. Likewise, the installation company should also have a long trading history and be able to provide good after sale service.
