Is Recon just about security?

SPCA:

Recon has regularly donated to the SPCA. Most significantly was the SPCA’s ability to purchase an incubation unit with Recon’s contribution.

The SPCA’s mission is to advance the welfare of all animals in New Zealand by preventing cruelty to animals, alleviating suffering of animals and promoting their policies through education and advocacy. The SPCA receives 1% of its funding from the government which means they rely on 99% charity and donations.

Billy Graham’s Naenae Boxing Academy:

Recon’s contribution to Billy’s academy helps with providing a structured and disciplined boxing programme to at risk teens.

To learn more about the academy go to Billy’s website https://naenaeboxingacademy.co.nz or read an article on Billy that appeared in the Sunday Star in 2011 https://www.stuff.co.nz/sunday-star-times/features/5596375/A-force-for-good

Rotary:

Recon is a supporter of the Rotary Club of Wellington. The benefit of being part of this organisation is the opportunity for people in business, education, government and other members of society to gather together and share ideas. This opportunity to learn about and from other members of the community builds understanding, cohesion and ultimately leads to interdependent development both professionally and personally.

Oxfam New Zealand:

Recon has just recently contributed to Oxfam New Zealand’s major fundraiser, the Oxfam Trailwalker. This fundraiser requires teams of 4 to walk 100km nonstop.

Oxfam focuses on helping entire communities so they can work together to lift themselves from poverty. A simple and efficient way to help large groups of people help themselves is by assisting with the set up of a community-based business. Recon’s contribution in 2013 is enough for a group of women in East Timor to start their own community business.

Special Children’s Christmas Party:

Recon recognises the joy of Christmas and what it means to children. What Recon would like to know is that all children can celebrate this magical time of year but that is not always the case. Therefore Recon makes regular contributions to the Special Children’ Christmas Party in Wellington. The Special Children’s Christmas Party, in association with the Cancer Society, enlists the sponsorship of local business to provide an unforgettable experience for disabled and disadvantaged children in our community.
